We had an amazing workshop yesterday making pinwheels. The children did SO well and the pinwheels they made were gorgeous so I thought I'd add the templates we created and a quick step by step here. Hope enjoy crafting them with your mini makers:
Step 1 - Pick your papers
We had a range of origami papers to choose from. These are great as typically they have two different sides which make your Pinwheels pop. This set from Amazon is similar to the ones we used.

Step 2 - Decorate
The best thing about DIYs is making it your own, so feel free to decorate your paper further by adding drawings and doodles. Acrylic paint pens are perfect for these as they don't bleed through the paper. These ones are great but you can also sometimes pick them up in the likes of B&M.

Step 3 - Laminate
Laminating the paper makes them more durable and able to stand up to the British weather.

Step 4 - Cut and Stick template
Print and cut out your template (templates available at the end of this post) and use double sided tape to stick it to your laminated sheet.

Step 5 - Cut your Pinwheels
Time to cut around the template, take your time to get as clean lines as possible. Then remove the template when done. Hole punches work perfect for the holes if you struggle to get your scissors in.

Step 6 - Add to the Stick
Sticks can be bought on Amazon at the following link. Or if you have a 3D printer, this file on makerworld is perfect.

And that's it, you are done. You can repeat this process and make as many pinwheels as you like.
We made 2 different styles yesterday, so I'm leaving you with both those templates here. Just right-click to save and print.
*please note the holes on the template are sized to the exact size of the 3d print linked above. If you use different sticks please measure your holes before cutting.

If you make one we'd love to see. Feel free to comment below or tag us in your makes @melidymakes
