Vinyl Care: Tips to Keep Your Items Pristine

Vinyl Care: Tips to Keep Your Items Pristine

One of the most common questions we get is how long will the personalisation on your products last?  The truth is it all comes down to how you care for your products once you receive them.  Most of our products are created with perminent vinyl or heat transfer vinyl, both of which can last indefinitely if properly cared for.

But how do you care for products with vinyl personalisation to ensure they last? In this post, we will provide you with some helpful tips to keep your vinyl personalisation looking fresh and vibrant for years to come.

1. Handwashing is key

One of the most important things to remember when caring for products with vinyl personalisation is to handwash them. While it may be tempting to throw your  items in the diswasher, this can cause the vinyl to peel or crack. Hand washing in warm water is by far the best way to care for your items.

When it comes to fabric items, again hand washing is best, but who really has time for that? They can be washed in the washing machine, but keep it at 30 degrees or below and wash inside out where possible.

2. Avoid harsh chemicals

When cleaning your vinyl-adorned items, it's important to steer clear of harsh chemicals. Bleach and other abrasive cleaners can damage the vinyl and cause it to fade or peel. Washing up liquid or hand soap should be enough to remove any marks or stains.

For fabric items avoid fabric conditioner as they can leave a reside that affects the longevity of the vinyl.

3. Avoid excessive heat

Vinyl is sensitive to heat, so it's important to avoid exposing your items to excessive heat. This means avoiding tumble driers, not ironing directly on the vinyl (ALWAYS iron inside out), or even leaving your items in a really hot car. Excessive heat can cause the vinyl to warp or melt, ruining the appearance of your personalisation.

4. Avoid Scrubbing and soaking

Vinyl is perminent but it is not impenitrable. Harsh scrubbing will cause the vinyl to peel. And while vinyl is water proof and can be washed, and dried with ease, long soaks (especially in hot water) can weaken the adhesive over time.

5. Store with care

When it comes to storing clothing items with vinyl personalisation, it's best to take a little extra care. Avoid folding or creasing the vinyl where possible, instead, hang your items or lay them flat in a drawer or on a shelf.

All of our products come with product care cards that have this information simplified, or you can always refer to our pinned post about it here on the website >> PRODUCT CARE

By following these simple steps, you can ensure that your items stay looking their best for years to come. Remember, a little extra care goes a long way in preserving the beauty and longevity of your vinyl-adorned items.
